Not sure much of a savings over a full license though unfortunately. VL's always cost more than the retail product. Just the way it is but it does have the advantages of imaging rights, optional Software Assurance except not available on Windows Pro any longer , one key to deal with, automated activation if you wish to setup a KMS server or use AD activation, etc. Worth the difference in price for some companies, maybe not for others.
Okay, that makes sense. I assume the single volume license that can be purchased to allow for imaging Windows 10 machines is different? Am I correct in assuming I can purchase one volume license that allows for imaging and then purchase say refurb Windows 10 computers that are licensed with an OEM license and then image those legally using the key that the computers come with? Yes, you only need one license for imaging rights and you would use your Volume License key in the image.
This assumes the computers you apply the image to are already licensed for the same version of Windows. If you have any older machines you can use that single license to perform an upgrade on any one machine that needs to be upgraded assuming it has a Pro license so you aren't really out any money to gain the imaging rights. So if I buy 5 of the volume licenses from Provantage, then image one of the new computers that have an OEM license, after I image with the volume license do I then change the key on the new system to the OEM key that came with the system?
If you setup and configure a KMS Server or setup and configure AD based activation, you will do nothing with the keys. If you don't have either of those two services, you will use the MAK key Microsoft provides and insert that into your image. You don't use the OEM key anywhere.

If you buy just one license, aren't you only allowed to image ONE machine? I can't image computers without VL keys right? Even though the computers I purchased came with a Windows 10 key, correct? One VL license gives you imaging rights regardless of the number of machines used on. It's just a perk that comes along with the VL license that you gain by just owning one. It can only be used to image machines with a valid base license of the same version of Windows.

And we've already got volume licensing and CAL's for our Windows Servers and Office products so I'm guessing we'd only have to add a single volume Windows 10 license and we'd be good? If your agreement is current and I believe they expire after 2 years maybe 3 , you can add to that agreement and there is no minimum.
Your reseller will need the Authorization of your active agreement for that. I'm not saying the whatever you purchased expires or anything like that but the agreement does which just means you can no longer add items to it. Your next purchase will start another agreement and will require the minimum 5 points.
